Often called a fedge — a combination fence and hedge — a fence made from living willow (Salix spp.) can be as rustic or as refined as you need it to be. You can call these willow hedges because the hedge is made out of live willow. Regular pruning and trimming keeps a fence from becoming unruly. P
Willow are native to moist soils in cold and temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. Almost all willows take root very readily from cuttings. Young, thin willow cuttings are known as withies, longer willow rods are known as whips. Willows make great Hedges or fences for Homestead properties. Living willow fences are quite widespread in Europe and they come in various designs and patterns.
